An unusual house with a rich history. The little cafe is lovely. Nice choice of food for a small place. The rural museum, separate entry fee is interesting and worth a visit.

Visited here whilst in the area. What a little gem of a place. A beautiful place to visit and walk around, they were setting up for a wedding whilst we were there and it looked beautiful. It had a lovely little coffee shop which also sells ice cream. Well worth a visit if your in the area. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and told us a lot of information about the place. Highly recommend a visit.

Beautiful Manor and lovely staff was a bit disappointed that it wasn't set up like a home , and how it would of been back in its 'hay day' . Garden was beautiful, peaceful and and abundance of fruit trees, plants and nature. Tea room was nice I had a hot chocolate and cream, jam scone was lovely! Reasonably priced too! They had little expeditions of cameras and radios which was nice but still would of preferred it to be set out like a manor house . To the back of property was a large barn/outbuilding with lots of old tools, machinery and other old quirky pieces. There's a stream that runs along side of the manor with birds which was a tranquil place to sit for a while. The building has some disabled access for wheelchair users but not the whole building, there are a few steps in/out of some of he rooms and a lift which takes you up 2 floors but not to top of the manor which is a shame because there were some really nice pieces up there and was set out more like how it would of been before. Nice couple of hours out there is some parking also available on site and dogs are welcome on he grounds and garden but not into the manor house it's self.

Lots of interesting history about the house and local area, along with details about the restoration work that has been undertaken and lots of info about the windmill.
The tea room does main meals as well as generous filled roles.
Check opening times as it's staffed by volunteers so may not always be open as advertised.

Quaint, full of interesting historical relics, but calling it a manor house is a bit misleading. It's a three storey house in a town with a moderate sized garden. It's good for an hour maybe if you don't rush it, especially if you have tea and a munchie before you go. Very small car park though, so don't assume you'll be able to park there.

We weren't here for the House. We were here for an outside performance by The Pantaloons. The house is a quite interesting building though the downstairs area now houses a bar and a cafe. There is an on site museum of old farm machinery, and the small grounds are nice too. The house is often used for weddings, so there is a permanent marquee. Worth a visit.
