An excellent garden centre. We had not been for many years and we are so pleased to discover it. A superb selection of houseplants and special thanks to Mark for his patience and advice. All of his colleagues were so helpful. Also one of the nicest cafes we have visited. More than happy to recommend. Thank you.

I rarely feel it necessary to review coffee . But I came to this Garden Centre with a 93 year old and her two daughters. I was tired of the browsing so I found the cafe and ordered a Latte . It is honestly the best coffee I ever tasted . Absolutely delicious. Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. Don’t miss it 😄

We went to buy Xmas tree and Xmas decorations at this centre , and the cashier was very careless in handing fragile Xmas “stars”. When we asked for a wrapping paper she said she doesn’t have any. When my partner offered to pay for it - she probably felt embarrassed and gave us some. All in all it was an unpleasant attitude for no reason, as we were very polite and friendly ……

I love this garden centre! It’s big enough to browse around and while an afternoon away. It’s got lovely goods as well - clothes for women, plants of course, crockery… standard garden centre stuff.

On top of that it has a restaurant and a cafe side by side. I’m writing to review The Parlour. I’ve been here only 4 times in a few years. Always had the sweet potato salad which was great. But they don’t do that anymore. Salad also not on display anymore. A shame. But it’s ok. What is not ok is the spiced cabbage and potato salad. It’s burnt. Don’t know where the cabbage was as well. We don’t send it back because it was pointless to. It’s only so very small as well although we didn’t finish it because it did also taste horrible.

The soup was nice. I think it was cauliflower and cheese. It didn’t make much impact so I couldn’t quite remember it from 3 days ago. It’s a very shallow soup bowl as well lol.

If this is meant to be a French style restaurant then it’s disappointing. The honey cake was also dry and crumbly. Not sure if it’s meant to be like that. If it is we won’t have it again. All the other little cakes, petit fours looked really pretty though.

Will I avoid? No. We will definitely try other stuff next time because it was never bad before. Maybe just this time. But if it’s burnt again we will send it back.

Setting is pretty and looks cottage chic which is cute.

We had cream teas, coffee and cake at the cafe. We were a large group with a dog and booked just before we arrived. They were very helpful and the food and drink were lovely. I would recommend.

I came here with my friends today and I can say the way the staff treated me was nothing short of disgusting. I spent close to £50 there and then decided to get coffee and a cob. When ordering, the man at the till rolled his eyes at me and both of my friends after we said we'd like to sit outside in the sunshine. The whole time we were out there we were watched by staff hoping to catch us smoking with no evidence that we even smoked. As we left a man/woman came to tell me that smoking wasn't allowed. I said that I was well aware as I saw the sign. They then told me not just for that area but the entire premises, to which I responded that I was aware. I then walked out of the garden centre and the alarm went off. With this an army of women with scanner guns at the ready advanced onto us with urgency. I felt very unwelcome and I will never be returning. They purposely singled out me and my friends, It used to be lovely a couple of years ago. It's gone downhill so much, very dissapointing. The staff's attitude leaves a lot to be desired.

We have been visiting this location for approximately seven years, and it has undergone significant changes over time. After the temporary closure during the lockdown, we were pleased to see how much the venue has transformed into a lovely place to spend a morning or afternoon. That being said, I do miss the authentic farm shop that used to be there.
The Café:
We were thoroughly impressed with the new café when it opened. The décor, menu options, and presentation of the cakes were all exceptional. The coffee pot option was a delightful novelty, and the cakes are generally delicious, though at times they can be a bit on the sweet side. I would particularly recommend the honey cake, which is light and moist. The range of drink options is also great, with choices like iced coffee during warmer months. It would be a nice addition, though, to offer fresh fruit and vegetable smoothies, though I understand that might be an added challenge for staff. The staff are always friendly and helpful, often offering to bring the tray to the table when I am with my child. We have always felt welcome and never rushed during our visits.
The Restaurant:
Our experiences in the restaurant have generally been very positive. However, it’s worth noting that weekends can get quite busy, and that may impact the experience. Some dishes have been fantastic, like the sandwiches (the coronation chicken is particularly tasty) and the quiches, which are always complemented by a wonderful selection of salads. On the other hand, we’ve found the full English breakfast a bit disappointing, as the bacon and sausage did not appear appetising and had a strong, overpowering taste. Despite this, we would not hesitate to dine here again, though we would be more selective in our choices. We have also found most of the staff to be very friendly and professional, particularly a lady with short, spiky hair, who handled a situation when we discovered that our order had not been sent to the kitchen after a 40-minute wait. She was gracious in her response and even gave my young son a token to feed the fish while we waited, which was a lovely touch.
The Shop:
The shop is exceptionally well-stocked, offering a wide range of high-quality products, from ladies' clothing and beauty items to homeware, children's toys and even escape games. A favourite for my son is to marvel at the mechanical train display. Additionally, the seasonal displays are always a highlight, and this year's Christmas section is the best we have seen.
The Aquarium:
The aquarium has been a fantastic resource for fostering a love of marine life in our little one. While I imagine the constant flow of children could be a challenge for staff at times, we have never experienced any issues. It’s truly a wonderful educational experience, as long as children are taught to respect the creatures.
The Staff:
We consistently find the staff to be warm, welcoming, and professional — often going above and beyond to make us feel valued. Many of the staff members make a real effort to engage with my son, which not only makes him feel welcome but also helps build his confidence in interacting with others.
However, I was disappointed by an encounter with a new staff member at the till, who made an unkind comment about my child's behaviour. She remarked to her colleague, in front of me, that children in her generation behaved better, which I found quite surprising and unnecessary. Such comments are not only unprofessional but also inappropriate, especially since she is unaware of our circumstances and he wasn’t harming anyone or anything. Perhaps this staff member needs to receive further training in customer service to ensure a consistently positive experience for all visitors.
Facilities:
The parking area is spacious, with designated disabled and family spaces, which is very convenient. Additionally, the nearby Crockford Bridge Farm is a lovely addition, offering seasonal fruit and vegetable picking and hosting a pumpkin festival each year, which is always a highlight.
