Today the most unexpected and kind thing happened as I was leaving the cafe with my mum. She is in a care home now but was a very loyal customer over many years.Mum stopped to admire a decoration that caught her eye. She asked if it was for sale or part of a display. Next thing - the decoration was popped in a bag, presented to Mum with a “Merry Christmas! You have been a customer here for a long time.”
My mum and I were so, so grateful for the care and I for their sensitivity. That is why independent local shops should be supported and treasured. Thankyou so much for sprinkling some magic dust on our day out. We won’t ever forget it.

This place is a must visit, it reminded us of a smaller style Jenners - perhaps a little old fashioned in places but we were amazed at how much they had in store, make up counters, gifts and clothing for ladies and gents. There is even a cafe, which was very busy and smelt lovely.

On our visits to Morpeth we always include time for Rutherfords, such a good department store. Particularly fine for Christmas shopping, although it's very easy to get carried away! Staff always friendly and helpful. And the Christmas window display this year is excellent - better than Fenwick's, we reckon!

The staff were exceptionally helpful in re ordering a xmas tree for me, then offerered free delivery at a convenient time for me! Thank you Chris.
The girls I spoke to were friendly and efficient and willing to help.
They certainly went the extra mile and I wanted to write this as it doesn't often happen these days.

Popped into Rutherford's today Friday 7/12/18 but was delayed by their lovely window display 😍. A beautiful Nativity scene plus the other windows beautifully and tastefully decorated. More appealing to me than another department store on Northumberland Street, Newcastle upon Tyne (also at New Bond Street, London) 😂

I was advised to go to this department store to get some fresh makeup while on holiday in the area. I went to the estee Lauder lady and she was absolutely amazing she me had sorted out with everything I asked for. Honest simple advice. No pressure selling. Just found me what I asked for. I got a free makeup bag and little bottle of product too. Couldn’t have been happier with the service I received I would highly recommend them
