I recently held a live music event at this venue, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Firstly at it's sheer size. It can hold around 800 people, maybe more as I understand it.
The venue manager (John) went out of his way to help our event run smoothly. We had access to barriers and partitions which really helped us to adapt the venue specifically to our requirements.
The venue has 13, 32 and and 63 amp power outlets which we definitely needed. We were even loaned a couple of adaptors so we could plug our equipment in. We also had access to an electric scissor lift so we could install our lighting rig as well.
There are lots of seats, mainly of the wooden bench type and lots of tables as well.
Loading in and out is made easier by being able to drive your vehicle into the main event area.
There was also a nice adjustable 4 metre by 4 metre stage that you can configure into different shapes. We went with square in the end.
Parking can be a little 'dodgy' if you don't arrive early but I had to leave the venue for 45 minutes during the event and when I came back, I was able to park within 5 minutes walk of the venue, and I was driving a large long wheel base van at the time. You are allowed to park in the parking permit areas near the venue after 6pm, but I would strongly advise that you ask just in case the parking restrictions change in the area. There are a few car parks in the local area, a bit further away from the venue, but the distances aren't too unreasonable in my opinion, especially as the weather was quite decent as I recall. There is also a bar adjacent to the main event area.
In conclusion. My experience of The Secret Space was positive. It wasn't perfect, but it certainly fitted our requirements.

Great event space, first time visiting for the night market. Had a great time until we got to the bar. £9 for a large diet coke and a small diet coke poured straight out of a 2ltr plastic bottle and was pretty flat.
I understand this is an event space, maybe those prices work for a gig but not for a market and not for soft drinks. I have never paid anywhere near that all the times I have had drinks at the NEC.

Amazing venue. Amazing people. 10/10 atmosphere and would deffo recommend. I attended the barbers bash event however there are loads of different events that happen here that I will be checking out in the future. I Will be coming here again.

Eventually found the place after struggling to find somewhere to park in Digbeth. The whole place is a mess with the road works and road closures. Only to discover that the lamp post has the details to pay for parking. You have to call a number and go through the automated questions to pay. What a parlava! I thought he layout wasn't that good, especially the ones in the ceiling. Had to crank my head upwards to long to look at them. The lady speaking on the microphone they give you talks for a long time. The toilets are unisex, as I thought they would be, but no locks on the doors. Myself and my partner were not well on the day. I check the terms and conditions, as they said no refund, but could move our booking to another day if there are places available. So I emailed, got an email back 24 hours after my booking stating they do not give refunds or exchange days! I think someone needs to review the terms and conditions! Not impressed. Think I will organise a trip to Florence to look at the real thing. I was there years ago and missed out due to timing.
