Sadly I feel that the lunch service for myself and friend was far from what we usually experience when dining in the restaurant. On arrival we were informed of a 30 minute wait for hot meals, no problem. Both of us ordered and paid for our individual meals as we do every month.
My friends meal arrived within around 25 minutes and we expected mine to arrive shortly after. Nothing! I waited for a while and then went to query when I could expect the meal. The very nice male assistant offered to check at the same time as a female assistant told me that if we paid individually that the food wouldn’t always arrive at the same time?! We were at the same table and paid within 2 minutes of each other.
By the time my lunch, after almost an hour, arrived, my friend had finished hers.We have never had this problem before but surely if two people are on the same table and are obviously lunching together their meals should arrive reasonably close together.
I realise that the restaurant was extremely busy but we also saw a number of people who arrived after us receiving their orders well before mine saw the light of day.
The male assistant couldn’t be faulted and was very apologetic at the wait. Please do better next time.

Sunday lunch today was a tediously long event. We waited 50 minutes for the main course to arrive and spent a second long period of time waiting for the desserts which had been ordered at the same time as main courses. All in all we were there for one and three quarter hours to be served two courses of just adequate food. The waiting staff were apologetic, and obviously embarrassed about the waiting times and were having to deal with disgruntled customers. Chairs are too hard and uncomfortable to be sitting in them so long. Won’t be rushing back, despite having been customers for, I should think, something like 30:years.

It was Easter so what do you do? Take your Mother out for lunch at a garden centre, Bawdeswell was the centre of choice and the lunch was amazing.
Salmon with Dauphinoise potatoes, Ham egg and chips, and scampi and chips, all well prepared, soft eggs, creamy potatoes and crisp chips. Only complaint was the dragging of chairs in an echoing room was grating!
The garden centre was sadly lacking in plants but that's the time of year, the gardens were lovely.

Today was our second time visiting the cafe and we were left very disappointed. I ordered our drinks and food ( two latte, two cheese and tomato toasties and a loaded frie bucket) We were left waiting at our table for half an hour and watched others around us being served large cooked lunches when we ordered way before they did. After 30 mins I went and politely asked the lady who made our coffees if our food was coming and told her we had been waiting for half an hour. She went into the kitchen to check, came back and told me it was now coming. Our food did arrive shortly after this but no apologies were given and the fries and toasties were pretty much cold. I wondered if the food was sat waiting on the counter for quite a while. Toasties were only lightly toasted (more like warm bread) the loaded fries still tasted good but again were pretty much cold. No member of staff came to check on any tables to ask how the food was which I thought was quite strange. After we ate we went into the garden area to have a look around and noticed that there was a large dead fish in the pond. We let a girl at the counter near the exit know that there was a dead fish and she seemed shocked and said she didn’t even know they had fish. We were left disappointed that £30 was really not worth it especially for the wait time. Last time we visited it was much better.

A wonderful independent garden centre that I enjoy visiting everytime when I am on holiday in the area. The prices are reasonable and I must mention the cafe / restaurant that serves delicious food within a comfortable atmosphere. The cakes were very fresh, even towards the end of the day. Dogs are now allowed in the inside conservatory area 😃.

Definitely worth a visit.

Visited today for the first time. Will never go back. My husband given a third of a glass of water with lipstick on the glass. The meal he ordered was not available so fair enough he chose something else. After a twenty minute wait the waitress came over and said that they had no mash potato so would I have new potatoes to which I said OK. People were being served that came in after us and after a forty five minute wait I asked for a refund. The table behind us had four people and only two were served. If there was a problem in the kitchen please tell staff to keep the diners informed. A bad experience which we will not repeat.

All set up for Christmas shopping.
Large carpark at the front with accessible parking and entrance.
Toilet facilities on site and a good cafe with plenty of seating.
A good place to visit summer or winter time.
