We got married here in August 2024 and were assisted by Celeste. Having been to many wedding fairs and seen lots of venues, none of them were quite as perfect as Gorse Hill. The mansion house and grounds are beautiful. We were lucky to have a warm sunny day and the venue really did come alive, with opportunity for our guests to catch some sunshine and a few drinks.

Our wedding day ran perfectly, on time with no faults (that we knew about!). We felt in such good hands with the team here and would highly recommend this venue.

We opted for a wedding package which included a three course meal, and our guests were very complimentary of the food. The venue also has great connections with us meeting our florist and pianist at the venue during a wedding fair, both of which were great additions to our day.

I want to take a moment to truly thank Celeste for all her help from our very first meeting to after the wedding, she was always available when we needed her for questions and support. We were also helped by Belinda and Jennifer who were also amazing.

Many of our guests stayed at the venue the night prior, and enjoyed their stay. It's a nice addition to be able to stay on the grounds for a standard cost, compared to other venues we looked at which were much pricier.

We will be sure to come back and visit the venue over the coming years for afternoon teas and to wander the grounds.

What an absolute gem in Woking. Their afternoon tea is a real treat. Amazing quality and thoughtful selection. But the crown of it all is the staff. Attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and above all, welcoming.

My fiancé and I had dinner here to celebrate 8 years together. We're getting married here next year so we knew we wanted to return to celebrate. We couldn't fault the staff or the food. Superb food, it arrived quickly and the staff were very attentive. We can't wait to return!:)

I've stayed in this hotel many times over more than twenty years, even back when it was a DeVere property, but never been an overnight guest on Christmas Eve. It was lovely to be here over the festive period with all the beautiful decorations up. Got the room I requested and so did my friend, in the manor house, although I've also stayed in the Lodge rooms in the building where the gym is located. It's classic old luxury, so it's a bit tired here and there, but it's cosy and friendly. As the restaurant was all ready set for their fully booked Christmas lunch, it was closed off for dinner, so we had food in the bar. It was very quiet, we had to find staff to serve us as hardly anyone was around. It's not like this any other time when the hotel restaurant is open as usual. The only let down was that there were no biscuits with my teas and coffees in my room and there usually is, so had to ask reception. Everything else was in order as expected, besides the coffee machine was apparently broken so I couldn't order a cappuccino or hot chocolate at the bar. They have a good cocktail menu, though and the food here has always been good. The staff tried their best considering the restaurant was closed and breakfast on Christmas morning was served in the separate conference and events building in the garden, but I didn't have it. The atmosphere staying at Christmas was lovely all around despite a few flaws, I would stay here at Christmas again.

Only stayed a night for work but great experience overall.

The buildings, gardens and surrounding areas are beautiful, ideal location, not too far from Woking and easy to get to central London or Guildford.

Food was great and the service was quick.

Special shoutout to the GM, barstaff and receptionists who all could not have done any more to make the stay more enjoyable.

Only negatives were WiFi in the rooms being off which was unfortunate but out of hotels control, and the bed was a bit too hard for my liking, but neither warrant it not being 5 stars.

Would definitely stay again if I am ever in the area.

Gorse Hill is a hidden gem on the outskirts of Woking, offering a taste of elegance in a tranquil woodland setting. Once a private residence, this 4-star hotel certainly lives up to the grand expectations set by its website, with an impressive entrance and ample parking that immediately sets the tone for your stay. Nestled in greenery, the location itself is a breath of fresh air.||Upon arrival, check-in was swift and seamless. The staff were not only professional but genuinely warm and attentive, making every guest feel special from the moment they walked in. Throughout my stay, the team consistently delivered top-tier service, creating a welcoming atmosphere that added to the charm of the property.||However, when it comes to accommodation—the core of any hotel experience—Gorse Hill unfortunately fell short. It seems that while the hotel excels in hospitality and event management, the same focus has not been extended to the rooms. As with many properties that position themselves primarily as event venues, it felt like the accommodation was an afterthought. A quick glance at the hotel’s website reveals that rooms rank fifth on their list of offerings, reinforcing this impression.||During my stay, the hotel was fully booked due to an event, leaving no opportunity for a room change despite my request. Sadly, my room showed clear signs of wear and neglect: from scratched doors to a malfunctioning bath and shower, topped off with dust, mold, and cobwebs. The room lacked the comfort and cleanliness one would expect, making it a space to spend the bare minimum time in.||While external noise wasn’t an issue, internal soundproofing was poor. I could clearly hear kitchen activity as early as 5 AM, which disrupted the peacefulness of the setting. To add to the inconvenience, hot water pressure in my room was almost non-existent, taking up to five minutes for a mere trickle to warm up—a problem not shared by the public-facing areas of the hotel.||In summary, Gorse Hill is an ideal venue if you're attending a function or event, where the service and surroundings will enhance your experience. But for a restful stay, the accommodation leaves much to be desired. I’d suggest exploring other options before committing to an overnight visit.

We attended a black tie private event here and stayed in their deluxe double room.
The room was nicely furnished, however the bed was two smaller beds pushed together with a cover over the top.
Breakfast was very tasty. Nice mix of continental/self-serve and cooked options.
