I had a problem with the gearbox on my Mini Cooper. It seemed like it was on its last legs and I was already looking at finding a replacement, however, in a last ditch attempt to save it I contacted Stephens Engineering, based on their excellent Google reviews.

Jason was extremely knowledgeable and completely upfront about the likelihood of his potential fix working. It seems there was a lot of testing and discussion between him and his staff before they decided to go ahead with it, as they were conscious of not wanting to waste my money. Much care and attention was given afterwards to ensure my car was given back to me in the best possible condition.

Since getting it back, it honestly feels like I’m driving a new car, despite it being 21 years old. In the 17 years that I’ve had it, I can’t remember it ever driving so beautifully. Jason has been a pleasure to deal with and has a great team around him. Tina on reception was also really helpful and efficient.

I would hesitate to recommend them.

You couldn't go to a more trusted, specialist place for transmission repairs. Every person I came in contact with was amazing, kind and friendly. Jason is the lead of the establishment and words could not describe him as a person. Thanks to Jason and all the personnel he has as staff members. Can I give them more than 5 stars please 🙏

As a mechanic myself of 25+ years I can 100% recommend Stephens engineering.
My mums car developed a dsg fault which I do not have the experience in so I researched garages that specialise in dsg gearbox repairs.
I rang a good number of garages, most of which told me a load of rubbish about what was needed to repair mums car, as a mechanic myself i understand exactly how the dsg box works despite not actually repairing them myself.
I didnt tell any garage my trade and acted like a general punter to make sure I found a garage that told me the truth about what needed to be done sadly most didnt, being in the trade I know only too well alot of garage's sadly rip people off.
I spoke to Jason and he told me what was likely to be the issue and gave me a min and max price estimate, the fault he believed it to be was exactly what I had found extensive research results prior to calling for quotes.
The car was dropped off to them Saturday while they were closed and by midday tuesday it was repaired and ready right in the middle of his price estimate.
When I picked the car up the workshop was very clean and tidy and well organised, and they had even given mums car a courtesy wash.
I have always done everything to the best of my ability and believed in doing things right.
I truly believe I've stumbled on a gem of a company with customer service at the core.
I'm an honest mechanic leaving a solid review for a company which shares my values, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Stephens engineering and I will definitely only be making 1 phone call for any auto gearbox repairs in the future.

Stephens Engineering came on my radar as my lovely Vauxhall could not engage reverse gear, my car is an automatic transmission car, so I met Mr Jason to explain my woes, his words was “ we can do that for you, “
A replacement car was offered and accepted and a few weeks later my lovely Vauxhall was back on the road with a new lease of automatic transmission gears, the price was a very reasonable price considering the works required, my car now drives even better when I had bought it new, I am so happy with the service received.
I understand people bring their cars from near and far , even from aboard, I can see why, Jason and team take pride in their jobs and give a good honest job which is rare today, so the default place to go anything mechanical is STEPHENS ENGINEERING

Outstanding! My audi a3 was diagnosed with a gearbox issue by my (ex) garage, the estatimate was £2,800! A second opinion at Stephens identified an issue with the gearbox servo selector not gearbox - now repaired at a cost of £420! Completed over 1,500 since repair and all ok. I would highly recommend Stephen's.

Stephen's Engineering was recommended by Buzz Special vehicle's. There are very few places that will work on modified Jeeps, I'm very glad I took my Wrangler here. The torque converter had packed up. These guys have OCD over getting the repair right, which isn't a bad thing at all. Highly trustworthy people and facilities second to none. Thank you for saving my wrangler!

Highly recommend them!! Only place in great London that gave a quote and service on my Subaru. Not even Subaru in UK want to change the cvt oil ! Great price , excellent service

I cannot recommend Stephens Engineering enough. Simple as that.
Having used them 3 times now, for 2 gearbox services and some attention i thought my front diff needed, I've met them all a few times, seen how they operate and appreciate everything they have done for me and because of that I couldn't help but write this review. I never do reviews either but nothing can stop me doing this as they truly deserve it. Even the last work I had booked, i left it with them, they took it for a test drive and did the oil on my diff instead of what we thought previously that the clutch pack on the way out. It was not deemed necessary, so they did not do it. That could have been £1500 in their pocket if they were not so honest and just fantastic. Words somewhat defeat me when i'm writing this. That's how great they are....
They are fantastic from the moment you speak to them, until you pick your car up (fixed as always). They go above and beyond what you think service and knowledge is in this industry and are a absolute pleasure to deal with. They are caring, amazing on price and you know what you are working with the moment you get there and see how they operate.
My car has done 135k now, the gearbox and diff's work better than when i bought it at 50k. Woop Woop!!!
Thank you for your help and your integrity. I only know Jason and Tina by name but all the people i have spoken to there are true professionals.
Please use Stephens Engineering with complete and utter confidence. All the good reviews are not by chance, that's how i found them in the first place (they are ZF Pro Tech registered also) and they absolutely do not disappoint.
