My wife and I stayed here for two nights as a post Christmas getaway. The hotel is stunning, but it is absolutely the staff that makes this place amazing. As soon as pulled up the doorman was introducing himself, helping us with out luggage and generally being really helpful. The front of house team were amazing, and we dined at The Legacy, which was just WOW. Incredible food, wine and service. We loved it. The room was spacious and bed, pillows etc. cosy. There were some cracked floor tiles in the bathroom, but it didn't detract from the stay. One suggestion, maybe try and get Netflix on your TVs, as we would have liked to watch that while we were there - but again, just a small suggestion. The spa, although small, was great and staff friendly. The location is brilliant as well, as everything is about a 10 to 15 minute away. Brilliant stay and would high recommend. We'll definitely be back!

Great Stay at The Grand York – Almost Perfect! ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Grand York has everything you’d expect from a high-quality hotel. The facilities are excellent, with a decent 20m pool, a relaxing jacuzzi, and a well-maintained sauna. The choice of restaurants is impressive, catering to different tastes, and the rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed.

Overall, it was a fantastic stay, and I really can’t fault it. The only reason for four stars instead of five is that while everything was great, there wasn’t a standout “wow” factor. That said, I’d definitely stay here again!

Just got back from our second visit to the wonderful hotel. Spacious, well equipped rooms. Well maintained throughout with amazing, courteous, friendly staff. Breakfast was fabulous with so much choice. Didn’t have dinner this time as we had a voucher for a restaurant in the city. Did eat dinner on our last visit between Christmas and New Year which again was fabulous.|I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

Just returned from an excellent stay. We arrived before check-in time so left our bags so that we could explore the city. The hotel called me to let me know when our room was ready. We stayed in one of the suites in the old building, which was genuinely bigger than my house. There were two toilets even! And an amazing double shower. We could see some of the Minster from the window. We were celebrating a birthday and there were some chocolates and a card left for us. We had room service in the evening and for breakfast which was very efficient. Food freshly made with quality ingredients. The hotel is a short walk from everything so is a great base to explore. At night, it was so quiet and peaceful we felt like the only people there. Check out time was 12pm since we stayed in a suite which was nice not having to rush. The England rugby team were staying at the hotel at the same time as us which was fun to see. My only issues with the room were that the air conditioning didn’t go as low as I would have liked (must get hot in summer), windows could not be opened at all and no milk was supplied with the tea/coffee selection. I drink mine black so not a problem for me, and I’m sure reception would bring some if asked, but I just thought it was a bit strange for non to be in the room. I would have no hesitation recommending this hotel and would definitely return in the future.

Absolutely stunning hotel. We had the valet service which was great, meant we could just pull up outside and out bags were taken for us and car sorted. Every member of staff we encountered was amazing, and if the doorman offers you directions, use them instead of Google as they tend to be faster/more scenic. Rooms were spotless and comfortable. Breakfast was great and so much to choose from. Will definitely stay here again, it's also only 10min walk (tops) from all the touristy bits.

My stay at The Grand York was absolutely perfect! From the warm welcome at check-in to the spotless, beautifully designed room, everything exceeded my expectations. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the amenities were top-notch.

The dining options were fantastic, with delicious meals and a great breakfast selection.

What truly made my stay special was the exceptional service—the staff was friendly, professional, and always willing to help. I can’t wait to return!

I had an amazing weekend at The Grand. It has such a warm feel to it and the service is definitely 5 star. The pool is the perfect size and gives you all you need. The staff in the 1906 bar were very attentive and the cocktails were exquisite. Location is very convenient right near the station and everything else. Would recommend this hotel and will be coming back one day!

From the moment we entered the hotel we experienced the highest quality in every department. The ambience of the hotel, our room, the bar, the restaurant, the spa, the Rise, all exceeded our expectations. Throughout the staff were attentive, friendly and caring. A wonderful place to celebrate my wife's 80th birthday. Our first visit - but not our last. Thank you all for making us feel special on this special occasion.
