I absolutely loved photographing here at The Normans in York! It’s such a beautiful, peaceful venue with a mix of rustic and modern touches. The barn is stunning, and the surrounding fields and countryside provide the perfect backdrop.
The vibe here is so laid-back, and the team is super friendly and welcoming.
If you’re after a relaxed, countryside wedding with a gorgeous venue, I can’t recommend The Normans enough!

From the moment we got engaged, there was only one venue we looked at and went to view for our special day, and that was the Norman’s. From the initial contact with Sharon, to the food tasting, to then finally having our wedding day, as a venue, the Norman’s just blew everything out the park. It was just how we imagined it would be and every space was made to feel personal to us. A huge thank you to Sharon and Dave who on the day before, the day of and day the after the wedding went above and beyond to ensure we were happy throughout. We couldn’t recommend them enough to anyone else looking for a venue in Yorkshire to have their wedding. They have helped us create memories for life, and we are already jealous of those who have the venue booked for their special day. Thanks again to Sharon, Dave and Oliver.

Where do I even begin. This venue is absolutely phenomenal. Our wedding was beyond perfect, better than I could have ever imagined. The venue itself is beautiful each section of the venue flows so perfectly which allows for the day to run so seamlessly. The food was impeccable we had so many comments as to how utterly delicious it was. But what makes this venue stand out the most is the most incredible staff. Oliver was incredibly I cannot find the words. Organisation to the highest degree both pre and post wedding saving us so much stress. So incredibly attentive and made it his mission to ensure the day ran smoothly. The Normans has an incredibly personal touch that I don't quite think you would be able to find elsewhere. Everyone that came said it was the best wedding they'd ever been to.

Wow where to start…

The Normans team are very kind, attentive and made our day super special. They certainly are wedding experts! They had all kinds of wonderful tips and tricks and were so quick to answer our 100+ questions via email whilst we planned our wedding from abroad (both Oliver and Sharon thank you)!

Oliver on the wedding day was very helpful and felt like another friend cheering us on; finding bags, checking in on us and even straightening out my dress and veil before coming down the aisle. He made sure the day was conducted with good flow and it all felt seamless! All the staff that we met were really friendly. Dave was great with helping ys set up the day before and made sure the place looked perfect.

We felt well cared for, and we were able to truly relax and take it all in on the day.

We can’t thank them enough, we wish we could do it all over again. We would recommend the Normans to everyone!

Sharon and Dave were incredibly helpful, always on hand both Friday and Saturday for anything we needed. We had a winter wedding and wanted to ensure there was enough comfortable space for our guests in case the inevitable British weather didn’t pull through. The Normans was the one venue that catered for all possibilities, providing a cozy yet spacious setting that felt just right, no matter the weather.

It’s fair to say we can’t quite put into words just how amazing our day was—it was everything we imagined and so much more! The entire experience was made effortless thanks to the endless support and expertise of The Normans team. They had an answer for just about everything, making the whole process stress-free and enjoyable.

Myself and my husband got married at The Normans back in October. From start to finish our day was AMAZING and we felt so looked after! Right from the initial booking 2 years ago, Oliver and Sharon could not do enough to ensure our day went smoothly and were fantastic on the day to calm our nerves. I would highly recommend booking The Normans, it’s definitely a decision you would not regret. The venue itself is stunning and the new bar is beautiful. Also, the fact that you get the venue from the afternoon before the wedding to the morning after makes it feel much more personal. We really wish we could do it all again!

I don't know how I could possibly do The Normans justice in one review but I will do my best.

From start to finish the team at The Normans have been a total dream to deal with. Nothing is too much trouble and every single person is there to make sure you have the best time possible. They take all the stress out of it and make sure you get to just enjoy the day.

The venue itself is stunning. You can add as much or as little as you want but it speaks for itself. Those twinkly lights make for the most beautiful photographs and it is surrounded by beautiful open spaces so the pictures outside are just as gorgeous.

The bar is VERY well stocked (essential for a crowd like ours) and the service was really quick!

The food on the day was 10/10 as expected! My (new) husband is the head chef of the Hog and Apple who cater at The Normans, so we obviously knew we were in good hands there! Tony gets to work in so many gorgeous venues and after years of visiting them we both knew that for our own wedding it could only be The Normans! You need to visit this venue and then you’ll get it, I think the word most used to describe this venue by our guests was “magical” and we couldn’t agree more. It’s a truly special place.

I would also really recommend booking the on site accommodation. I stayed in the cottage with my mam and bridesmaid's the night before and getting ready there made the whole morning feel special. There’s a beautiful dressing room area with space for your hair and makeup team. Every tiny detail has been thought of. It’s a fantastic space. It was also really great having somewhere to pop back to and refresh mid way through the day. Then at the end of the night we just needed to pop next door and kick our shoes off. Ideal.

We couldn’t have had a more fun day! Thank you so much to Oliver and everyone at the Normans for making our day so “magical”.

Where do we even start! From the moment we stepped into The Norman’s we fell in love with it and knew this is where we wanted our wedding day.

We booked our wedding three years in advance and after all the food tastings and viewings, we fell more in love with it everytime and knew it was the one.

The Friday before the wedding we met with Oliver who went through the day and through all the little details which we loved as it let us relax and really enjoy the weekend.

The calm atmosphere of the Norman’s is what we really loved. We wanted to create a day that showed off our love story with lots of happy tears but with an unforgettable after party and the Norman’s really nailed it.

Friday the bridal party gathered and decorated the venue perfectly so we could then relax and enjoy a pizza party at a local venue.

When the morning of the wedding arrived the blue skies, farmers field's and silence around the venue was just perfect to have the most calm and relaxing morning getting ready.

Once we were all ready we took to the alter and Oliver made sure everything was were perfectly the ceremony felt so relaxing and intermittent even with 85 guests it’s everything we wanted.

The drinks reception - the sun was shining while we enjoyed canapés, fizz and some acoustic music it really set the scene for the day.

When the wedding breakfast doors opened our guests were wowed by the breath taking room, Oliver did a great job or hurding the guests up like sheep as the speeches started. Hog and apple served some insane food and all the guests were buzzing on how good it was for “wedding food”. Once the guests were stuffed and ready to burst the singing waiters began we opted for a different kind and wanted the opera style there was laughter, tears everything we really wanted it was perfect!

One thing we hate about weddings is the “lul” between the food and the night do and we really didn’t want this at our wedding …this is why we picked the Norman’s. Our guests headed straight out and into the party sax player aperols in the sunshine setting the party scene. Once we were into the aperol hour our evening guests arrived to sunshine party and aperol in the courtyard what an atmosphere to arrive too. One of our guests actually said “I can’t believe this is the party before the party even starts”

Another reason we booked the Norman’s is because when we first viewed it the sunset was to die for and we were so lucky because on our wedding day the sunset we ordered arrived perfectly on time. We got to sneak off and enjoy the sunset while listing to our guests laugh and sing but have some time just us two to take it all in, that was a great highlight to our day.

Once the aperol hour had finished it was back inside for our first dance and party the night away and our guests really did do just that.

Everytime I think about our wedding day I cry with happy tears because it was so perfect and we are so sad it’s over and wish we could re do this day everyday. Even lots of our guests messaged saying “best wedding ever” “what a venue” …and also that there feeling sad that the whole day is over

Again just wanted to say a massive thank you to Sharon for all the emails, chats and help over the last 3 years and Oliver for making our day a dream come true, you really gave us the BEST DAY EVER
