Beautiful "find" for us today.
Instead of stopping at an awful motorway services, we went just slightly off- route and found a gem of a place.
Really interesting gardens and shops and a fantastic cafe where all the food is prepared in-house. Delicious and highly recommend.

We took the kids to go see the reindeer and do the Xmas market to start to get in the spirit, the kids enjoyed it (even tho it was wet n windy) and was a great effort by Waterperry gardens especially with the market, the only thing that slightly ruined the day was the attitude of the staff in the teashop, it felt like a burden to give then our order with huffing and eye -rollling and if u asked a question (oh god) be warned ⚠️.... maybe she was having a rough day who knows, it's in the past now! Anyways Merry Christmas everyone x

Waterperry gardens is wonderful to visit. My garden favourite part of the gardens was the silent garden with its wisteria archway & beautiful sculpture. The tearoom was a delight with clotted cream scones & tea & a bottle of sweet apple juice from the gift shop.

A very pleasurable place to visit. Not far from Oxford & also easily reached from the M40 & Bicester.
You could easily spend the day here.
Plenty of parking when I've visited , admittedly mid week.
The cafe , nursery & gift shop can be accessed free of charge but there is a charge to enter the gardens .
A very large lawn to the rear of the cafe is laid out with chairs & tables , some in the open , others umder a canopy.
Very good quality ornaments & plants for sale , albeit at eye watering prices.
The gardens are excellent , well maintained & constantly improvimg.
A truly magnificent herbaceous border runs along one of the outside walls of the Walled Garden. At it's best on our visit. The Walled Garden is full of interest with fruit , vegetables , flowers & a Dahlia border.
The rest of the gardens contain many attractions : A formal garden , rose garden , orchard , rock garden & much more. The Yew Henge is very quirky
Add to this the Church , the Museum & the Amphitheatre.
All this is on the site of what was once a Horticultural College for Ladies founded by Beatrix Havergal in the 1930's.

I visited these gardens in July. They're an absolute delight. The herbaceous border alone worth the entry price. It was much bigger than I'd thought and a good 3 hrs were lost wandering and admiring. Lots of beautiful sculptures, lovely walled garden. We had a delicious and extremely reasonably priced lunch in the cafe, the scones were top notch. It was raining when we visited but I can imagine on a sunny day you could spend the day here. Lots of open spaces for children to run around in too. Especially just outside the cafe.

What a beautiful place to visit. Extensive gardens, garden centre and shop, Museum of hundreds of old tools and equipment (much more interesting than it sounds!) An incredible Wisteria arch. Orchards, vegetable gardens. Cafe and plenty of places to picnic. Parking. I just wish I lived closer.
